1966-1969 Bachelor of Science (cand. mag.), University of Oslo.
Range of subjects: Mathematics, Physics and some Computer Science.
1970-1973 Master of Science (cand. real.), University of Oslo.
Main subject: Mathematics (algebra/algebraic geometry).
1982 Doctor philosophia with a thesis on deformation theories and classification of curves: "Deformations of graded algebras and projective schemes of nests. Applications to the Hilbert scheme of curves in 3-space".

Specialization:

Main field: Hilbert schemes (and their strata given by constant Hilbert function) of projective varieties in n-space,
deformation theories, with emphasis on deformations of graded (also artinian) objects, linkage (liaison) also Gorenstein-linkage,
(co)homology (Ext and Tor, as well as of algebras), projective space curves and determinantal schemes.
Other fields: Local cohomology, classification of Gorenstein (resp. level/Cohen-Macaulay)-algebras of codimention at least 4 (hhv. 3),
moduli of reflexive sheaves (mainly of rank 2), Hilbert schemes of surfaces in 4- and 5-space and liaison-invariants.
Current research: Hilbert schemes of determinantal varieties (given by maximal and submaximal minors). Projective space curves.

    Member of the Local Education Authority at Nesodden in the periods 1979-83 and 1987-95.
